first year as an entrepreneur

On September 5th I celebrated one-year “entrepreneurversary” as well as my most profitable month to date.

When I first started My Fab Finance, I had no idea it would become a successful blog, let alone my full-time job!

Thanks to wonderful coaches, teachers, and mentors, I was fortunate enough to become a full-time entrepreneur in September 2015. Despite my success, I am reminded that 8 out of 10 business fail within the first 18 months. I’m committed to being one of the two that succeeds in their first 18 months so instead of marking the occasion with an elaborate celebration, I traded it for reflection and planning.

During my reflection time I honed in on the lessons I learned over the past year and created this video to explore and expound upon the lessons learned my first year as an entrepreneur.

Lessons Learned From My first Year of Entrepreneruship from MyFabFinance on Vimeo.

In short over the past year I have learned:

  • You need support
  • You can’t say “yes” to everything
  • There’s more than one way to have occupational freedom
  • Multiple revenue streams are critical

I’m still learning what make sense for my business and lifestyle. I’m finding ways to marry my goals with my ultimate vision of helping you create sustainable change in your life. I look forward to another year of learning and growing.

Thank you so much for the role you all have played in my first year of business.

Cheers to 2017 and beyond.
